From Rote to Responsive: Increasing Flexible Responding
This course explores evidence-based strategies for reducing rote responding and strengthening flexible verbal behavior in learners with autism. Participants will review two complementary research studies that address rigidity in intraverbal repertoires. The first examines intraverbal webbing as a method to expand and connect response networks, while the second—Contreras & Betz (2016)—investigates how lag schedules of reinforcement can be used to directly reinforce variability in responding. Lastly, the an article uses verbal frames to build generalized intraverbal-tact
