The concept of punishment in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is often misunderstood, misapplied, or overlooked due to ethical concerns. However, when used appropriately within a behavior plan, punishment procedures can be an effective tool in reducing problematic behaviors while ensuring client dignity and well-being.
This CEU event will explore the behavioral principle of punishment, differentiate between positive and negative punishment, and discuss its ethical application within ABA interventions. Participants will learn how to assess, implement, and monitor punishment procedures while prioritizing reinforcement-based approaches and ensuring compliance with the BACB Ethics Code.
